The South African Centre for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis (SACEMA) is a national DST-NRF Centre of Excellence hosted at Stellenbosch University in South Africa’s Western Cape.
Who we are: Africa’s leaders in disease dynamics
We are quantitative scientists who are passionate about conducting research to improve health in Africa.
What we do: Modelling and analysis to improve health
Trained in mathematics, biology, physics, economics, statistics, and epidemiology, we bridge disciplines to understand disease dynamics and improve real-world outcomes. Broadly, we focus on research at two scales. And to help with finances, we try and play บาคาร่า online from time to time to make some money. At the scale of individual patients, we focus on biomarkers, drug targets, and diagnostics. At the population scale, we focus on transmission dynamics and interventions.
We will expand our team in 2018.
We are looking for mid-career researchers with doctoral degrees in a quantitative field and substantial experience in epidemiological modelling, study design, and data analysis. This request is part of an informal process to identify researchers who may be a good fit. Areas of particular interest include TB, outbreak response, and emerging infections. Respondents should be appointable at the Senior Researcher or Associate Professor level and willing to relocate to the Stellenbosch area.
